This beautiful time off I am carving out for myself, so much needed and appreciated, lead me to explore yesterday Plato's Myth of Er and the relevance with Hermes as a mythological expedient for personal development. Since it's somewhat new - at least the way I am approaching this topic, having read about Hermes and Trismegistus and the Caduceus etc etc etc before anyway - I am using this entry here just to jot down ideas and links I might revisit at a later date and for anyone interested in looking at this.

Here we go:

  1. look at the books above: Plato's Myth of Er can be found in his Republic [together with the Cave...]; Hillman's The Soul Code is such an important book when we think about the evolution of Plato's thinking and connecting it with Jung's [!]; then of course I added The Origin of Our Species by Stringer because this links to my own PhD and finally Jung's The Undiscovered Self which is a very good starting point;

  2. chk at the videos by Michael Phillip on YouTube HERE and not because I do accept everything he says, but his perspective is something I am comfortable in exploring;

  3. for anything more academic when thinking about alchemy and the uncanny, of course rely on dr Justin Sledge on YouTube HERE because his biblio-recommendations are just sheer perfection;

  4. also, don not forget This Jungian Life podcast HERE and specifically the episode on Hermes HERE.

In the meantime, I have so many other questions, but I start this process by re-reading Plato and taking of course a lot of notes!

so, onwards + upwards > out + about
